Encased in Clay

cemetary grave

This poem is written for What do you See challenge over at Willow Poetry.

I died a very long time ago

Encased in clay, broken, total dismay

Now here I stand with head in hands

Staring blankly across the lands

My soul is still alive

Even though my body died

I stand in wait

Wanting to be taken to the gate

Yearning for my soul to be set free

Will it ever be?

  2. Without being too irreligious, this brought to mind one of the vampire books by Anne Rice.
