The Perfect Gift
This short story was written in response to What do you See Challenge.
It was their second anniversary since Meg and Ian started dating and Ian was so happy when he saw the look on Meg’s face as he handed her this beautifully wrapped gift.
“Happy Anniversary, Meg. I love you more and more each day that passes.”
“Oh, Ian, I feel so bad, I didn’t get you a gift, but I did plan a romantic dinner.”
“You know me, I love to eat, so dinner is perfect and I’m sure it will be delicious if you’re making it. But first open your gift and I’ll pour us a glass of wine.”
Meg slowly unwrapped her gift and when she opened the box she was delighted.
“How on earth did you know to get me this.”
“Well I had a little talk with your mom and she told me about your grandmother’s china and how it was missing one cup and saucer. She showed me the pattern and I searched and searched and finally found this at that little shop downtown, umm … oh ya, the Coffee and More shop.”
“This is the perfect gift Ian, now we’ll have a complete setting for twelve when we get married. I love you, and thank you so much.”
