Place of Worship – Senryu
Stone cold deserted
Gone, once a place of worship
That was long ago
Safe sanctuary
Before … To many lost souls
Meeting together
One congregation
Finding, needing guidance
Appreciation
Unsubstantial ghosts
Spirits to some remain here
Incarcerated

This was written for a challenge over at Willow Poetry called What do you See?
The somber, shadowy tones of the artwork was well matched by the feeling and words of your poem. Whenever I see or visit an old structure I always think about the lives connected to it. This said it well.

Excellent piece, Susan. Makes me think about all of those buried in these old structures and wonder how many of them still walk the halls…
