Snow What Snow – Flash Fiction Challenge

This week’s flash fiction challenge over at Carrot Ranch is an intermittent one as Charli is experiencing technical problems. In 99 words (no more, no less) write a poem or story about “buried in the snow”. If you like to read or write flash fiction, please join us, we have a lot of fun.

2019 snowy night

Snow, snow, go away

Never come back

JUST GO AWAY!

We were hoping for a break this year

But oh no you had to bury us here

The drifts and banks are five feet tall

To top it off, dozens of squalls

Blizzards and whiteouts, you give freely

Give us a break, what’s the big dealy

I hear you’re planning to stay around

My only wish is that you just leave town

Overcast skies without any sun

Makes us unhappy, all we do is bum

The days are so cold

I’m getting old

It seems I’ve lost all control

  1. Love the imagery and cadence of the writing! I love snow, but only when it falls softly and slowly, doesn’t linger, and the temperature doesn’t dip below 30…that’s not asking a lot, is it?

  2. I lived most of my life in areas where I never snowed. I had my first white Christmas a few years ago when I moved here. I still get excited when it snows and sad when it melts. The only caveat is that I can’t drive in it.
